BCS Foundation in Business Analysis (inc exam) - BAFOUND

What do Business Analysts do? What skills and competencies do they require to do their role? This Foundation level course provides delegates with an overview of the role of the Business Analyst who acts as the link between business needs, users and IT within change initiatives. The course introduces delegates to the contribution that a business analyst makes and the tools and techniques they have at their disposal to assist them in their role.

At the end of the course the delegates may sit an examination to obtain the BCS Business Analysis Foundation Certificate. This qualification provides a foundation for the range of specialist BCS modular certificates in the areas of Business Analysis, IS Consultancy and Business Change, plus the higher level BCS Diploma in Business Analysis. In addition, this course can be used to provide a foundation for specialists in other disciplines, particularly Project Managers and System Developer.

Day Three:

  • Undertaking Requirements Engineering
  • Modeling the IT System
  • Managing Business Change
  • Information Resource Management
  • Culminating in: BCS Business Analysis Foundation Exam (One Hour Multiple Choice)

Course Information

  • A general understanding of the Business or IT Environment and completion of pre-course study material as supplied
  • Ability to commit to 2-3 hours homework per night during the course

Pre-course reading

Delegates will be provided with pre-course reading prior to attending the course. The success on the course will be enhanced by close attention to the pre-reading materials. It is recommended that candidates spend between 6-10 hours working through the pre-reading.

  • If you are taking a BCS exam you must bring photographic identification with you (passport, driving license or student card), as it is a BCS requirement to produce it for the invigilator prior to the exam. Failure to produce a valid form of photographic identification will result in a candidate not being able to sit the exam.

  • The BCS also allows additional time for candidates who have a disability or whose business language is not English. Candidates can request this.

At least three weeks' notice will be required for processing this request and delegates failing to advise Connect 2 Courses and provide proof if requested by the BCS, may not be allowed the additional support offered via this BCS policy

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • describe how a business strategy is developed
  • adopt a business analysis process modal approach to change initiatives
  • capture business system issues
  • consider the perspectives of key individuals who will be affected or are interested in the change project and document their views
  • use techniques for the analysis and modeling of business systems
  • describe the contents of a business case which would be used to justify a project
  • include the people issues in any change initiative plan
